Interview mit James Dean Bradfield

Letzten Herbst wurde das bereits 11. Studioalbum der Manic Street Preachers Rewind the Film veröffentlicht. Knapp ein halbes Jahr später folgt Album Nummer 12 namens Futurology. Einige Songs wurden gemeinsam mit dem Produzenten Alex Silva im Hansa Studio aufgenommen. Außerdem wird auf der neuen Platte zeilenweise Deutsch gesungen, die deutsche Schauspielerin Nina Hoss leiht den Manic Street Preachers für das Lied „Europa geht durch mich“ ihre Stimme und das Video zu „Walk me to the Bridge“ spielt in Berlin… Grund genug um den Sänger James Dean Bradfield in die Hauptstadt einzuladen und mit ihm über das neue Album zu quatschen. Am 1. Mai 2014 war er zu Gast bei Nadine Kreutzer im FluxFM-Studio.

It’s a little bit about the future and what lays behind you, right?

James Dean Bradfield:
It is, yes! In fact „Walk me to the Bridge“ carries a bit with that message. The lyric was written when Nicky Wire was thinking of leaving the band.

What did you do, that he thought of leaving the band?

James Dean Bradfield:
Nothing! Perhaps I made him a bad cup of coffee these days, I’m not sure… I think, musicians are allowed to have brief existential crises.
