Róisín Murphy im FluxFM-Interview

Hui, waren wir vielleicht aufgeregt, als die irische Künstlerin Róisín Murphy vor ihrem Konzert im Tempodrom in die FluxFM-Redaktion kam. „In der Jugend ist Koketterie in Ordnung – dann braucht’s mehr Tiefe“, findet die ehemalige Moloko-Frontfrau. Mit über 20 Jahren Musikgeschäft auf dem Buckel, darf man schon mal weise Sprüche klopfen. Ihr neues Album Hairless Toys erschien bereits im Frühjahr.

„You are a big Sonic Youth fan, right?“

Róisín Murphy:

„[..]As a kid they were very very important for me. It was the first gig I saw that really galvanized my sort of love for music. I was 14 when I saw them. And I kind of came home and picked a big stack of U“ records that I ‚ve collected over the last year, rushed to the record exchange and exchanged them all for the one Sonic Youth record. [..]“

„Was that exciting to make your first own video?“

Róisín Murphy:

„Ya. It’s a very exciting thing to do to direct. It’s super exciting and I can completely understand why most directors, I have met, have huge egos. Telling all these people what to do is a right old buzz, you know.“
